What are flow arts?

Flow arts are a unique art form based on combining object manipulation with other movement arts such as dance or martial arts. In other words, flow arts it's like dancing and moving with different, not only, juggling props. Another term often used to describe the flow arts or juggling is spinning. The most well-known props of flow arts include poi, staffs/sticks, fans, buugeng, hula hoops, dragonstaff, contact balls and many others.

What's so exciting about flow arts?

Flow arts it's much more than an art form - it's a community and a way of life including a lot of travelling, performing and attending flow & juggling festivals around the world. Imagine flow arts like a playground for adults, with infinite options to play, explore and connect with other people without competition so common in sports or even dance.

Improve your health by expressing yourself.

Flow arts offer authentic self-expression, growth and curiosity that we often miss in our adults' lives. It can be an excellent way to connect with your inner child and find a common language with children of any age.

Flow arts helps you achieve a state of waking presence known as the flow state.

This term is also recalled as 'in the zone', which according to the flow expert, psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, has the potential to improve the quality of life. How?

Flow arts is an activity that like Yoga or Tai chi harmoniously connects our body and mind. It improves our focus, which is a crucial key to awareness and our ability to work, provides new learning challenges every day, improves our coordination and motor skills as well as our physical abilities.

The regular flow practice can make our life and our experiences more vivid, intense and meaningful. Just ask any of the flow artists.

Fire spinning vs LED spinning

Many flow artists fell in love with fire spinning at first sight, but what they don't see behind the initial spark is their growing passion for the flow state itself. Falling in love with flow arts often means to create and nurture a lasting relationship with flow practice with non-fire props, including the LED toys.

Our mission is to create the best quality LED props, that will give yourself and your audience the thrill similar to fire spinning and way more. There is no need to compare the fire dancing with light spinning, but understanding the differences between these two different worlds will help you to explore the potential of each to the maximum.

Fire is an astonishing element, and dancing with it creates a special experience.

The other side of this art is that it can be dangerous even if you're carefully following all the safety guidelines. It takes a skilled performer to make the audience believe it's safe and entirely under your control. It is also more space demanding, because of the flames and heat and not so suitable for indoor places because of the fire. This is the reason why most of the fire shows take place outside or at big productions on a venue with good airflow.

Light show or light dancing is a favourite alternative of indoor flow arts and juggling show. That doesn't mean you can't perform outside as well.

A good example is the performance of Pyroterra during The Ambani wedding in 2019! The artists performed with the LED props even in the water fountain. The most crucial difference that LED spinning provides it's the programming!

VISUAL PROPS AND SOFTWARE MADE FOR SPINNERS

Our company is well known among spinners and mainly professionals because of the LtComposer software. You will never be able to control fire fully. However, you can control your LED props and create an unforgettable experience for your audience thanks to carefully chosen pictures or colours programmed to the music and your choreography.

The visuality of this art form is another important aspect that inspires our company a lot, but that is a topic for a whole blog post itself.
