How to take care of batteries and electronic props

Maintenance of your LED products and especially their batteries is an important subject. If you want to ensure that your precious electronic props last for a long time, you should learn how to take care of them.

how to take care of the batteries

Today, we mostly use Li-Ion or Li-Po batteries. These batteries are really good at packing a large capacity in the small cell and that's why they are commonly used in most electronic products today.

Using batteries is a common practice and there is not much to say, but the most important topic is how to store your batteries (products) over a longer period of time.

When a battery is fully charged, or fully depleted - in these scenarios the chemistry in the battery is on its very edge and tends after some time to lose capacity. If stored depleted, it can eventually totally die.

That's why you never want to play with your prop and leave it depleted afterward in your closet.

Make sure your electronic props are NEVER LEFT WITH EMPTY BATTERY.

It is always recommended to store props with batteries charged, not depleted. If you want to get the most of them - the best way is to store batteries charged to about 70% capacity. You can fully charge your props and leave them shine for a moment, to have more optimal battery capacity for the storage. But if you want a quick way, store them charged but definitely not depleted.

Make sure you store props at room temperature and in dry condition. Cold temperatures make lower the battery capacity and humid environments can damage the electronics connections and create oxidation.

Generally, common sense is good to apply.

You want your products to be stored in dry places and at room temperature.

TRAINING
You do not want to train with expensive electronics. It is more handy to have a practice version of the props, to limit the amount of fails, hard drops, and hits. All Lighttoys props are built to be as durable as possible, but they are still a piece of sensitive electronics.

WATER
Be careful about the performance in rain or in a humid environment. It is not a problem to perform in the rain, snow, etc. But you don't want to leave the props lying on the ground in water or snow. Or leave them anywhere where there is a lot of moisture for a longer time. If you want to perform in these humid conditions, consider waterproofing your props. Like transparent tape over the charging connectors, buttons,...

SUNLIGHT
All props are made from plastics and these do not naturally like being in the sunlight because the UV spectrum degrades the plastic and makes them more fragile with the passing time. Do not leave your props lying in the sunlight for a long time. Also don't forget your props in cars in hot summer days or similar environments (hot temperatures can damage and bend plastic parts).
